Summary of Position:

The Senior Director of Information Technology will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining company infrastructure technologies. This will include servers, network, and telephony as per the company's goals. This position will assess the requirements of the business, design documents, and create architectural approaches to further our IT systems. The Senior Director will need thoroughly understand the company’s current systems architecture, standards, and future technology plans as well as recommend new trends for both hardware and software infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee technology operations and evaluate them according to established goals
  • Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management
  • Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
  • Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations, or new systems and inform upper management
  • Coordinate IT managers and supervise computer scientists, technicians, and other professionals to provide guidance
  • Control budget and report on expenditure
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts
  • Responsible for planning and design of company infrastructure systems
  • Will Lead cross-functional technology teams in the planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure technologies
  • Analyze and provide reviews on shortcoming and shortages in the information systems
  • Responsible for assessing how to mitigate risks, resolve security alerts and how to prevent the possible adverse outcome of the identified weaknesses
  • Work with other teams within the organization to ensure they are using the technology appropriately and making suggestions to them with an IT strategy
  • Diagnose production problems and proving technical, strategic, and procedural support to the company, as well as assisting in implementing resolutions
  • Provide direction to activities and assess system designs to ensure that solutions will perform satisfactorily regarding security, maintainability, and scalability
  • Diagnose new and existing software products and provide quality assurance review for them
  • Manage the purchase, testing, implementation, and supporting network communications
  • Develop system solutions by understanding and studying systems flows, data usage, and work processes
  • Assist in or independently create robust, scalable, and high-quality system solutions
  • Maintain, manage, and support the ITS infrastructure environment for the entire company, across multiple locations
  • Maintain, manage, and support applications with multiple concurrent users, ensuring integrity, and accessibility
  • Responsible for the execution of approved changes, implementation, and maintenance to systems
  • Take ownership of the overall performance, adherence to approved security protocols, and availability of systems
  • Coordinate software upgrades with software vendors and team members as necessary
  • Coordinate capacity, planning, and analyze information concerning job-processing time, response times, hardware, software and voice utilization, CPU loads
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintains control records
  • Maintains logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records, and analyzes these to determine systemic issues or improvements
  • Issue technical bulletins to inform users of system changes
  • Act as technical advisor to systems analysts, application specialists, management and leadership
  • Manage virtualized environments
  • Act as a senior point of escalation for the team
  • Participate in maintaining a comprehensive disaster recovery plan and conduct periodic testing
  • Mentor other less experienced team members
  • Architects provide technical advice for software development

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee in this position frequently communicates with other co-workers/clients who have inquiries about the various projects and other needs. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operate a computer and office machinery such as a calculator, keyboard, copy machine, and printer. Frequently moves boxes with equipment weighing up to 25lbs across the building and/or to other offsite buildings for various project needs.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of experience


  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience generally 10+ years of professional experience
  • BSc/BA in computer science, engineering, or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus
  • Proven experience as IT director or similar role
  • Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, etc.
  • Experience in controlling information technology budget
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication abilities
  • Ability to use scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash
  • Must have an understanding of application layer protocols, such as TCP/IP, UDP HTTP/S, and Web Sockets
  • Experience in designing and implementing complex solutions in cloud apps, such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.
  • Able to work within Agile-Scrum Methodology and provide assistance and monitoring for all activities of information systems operations, such as computer and telecommunications’ operations, system security policy procedures, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, data control, operating systems programming, and web strategy and operations
  • Understanding of Public/Private IP addressing, Network Protocols, VPN, and VLAN configuration
  • Understanding of Public/Private DNS Administration
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Server 20XX administration
  • 5+ years of firewall and network administration
  • 5+ years of Active Directory and Group Policy administration
  • Experience in Process Improvement
  • Experience in Presenting Technical Information
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate well with other teams & team members
  • Experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining the network, systems, and application monitoring tools
  • Experience with SAN/NAS technologies
  • Demonstrable skills operating a secure environment to include desktops, servers, and network
  • Experience with VMWare or other virtualization technologies
  • Experience with configuration management tools
  • Consultative skills, including the ability to understand and assist in applying customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements
  • Experience with Linux systems a plus
  • Experience with Mac systems a plus
  • Advanced technical certification required – may include Cisco CCIE, AWS SA, CISSP Microsoft Administrator or Solutions Architecture certifications
