About the Position: You will serve as a Sexual Assault Investigator responsible for the investigations of adult and child sexual assaults for the Department of the Army conducting and/or overseeing investigations of suspected felony violations against the laws of the United States and the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) in which the U.S. Army is, or may be, a party of interest.
- Independently direct, manage, coordinate, oversee, and conduct felony sexual assault, sexual abuse and domestic violence criminal investigations, crime prevention activities, and criminal intelligence analysis.
- Independently plan, develop, conduct and coordinate intricate or delicate sexual abuse/assault and child abuse/assault and associated domestic violence investigations.
- Analyze complex sexual assault related data, obtain and execute subpoenas, search warrants, arrest warrants; process crime scenes, and collect evidence.
- Identify investigative leads for sexual abuse/assault and child abuse/assault investigations and determine the best methods to follow those leads in order to identify, arrest, and prosecute the responsible parties.
- Review and prepare interim or final reports of felony adult and child sexual assault related criminal investigations detailing the multifarious, contributing cause or causes and expert recommendations to prevent similar future occurrences.
- Maintain pertinent statistical and management data on internal investigations.
- Conduct undercover surveillance operations (including coordinating and conducting pre-text telephone calls and digital communications between victims and suspects, often dangerous in nature.
- Collaborate with specially trained victim advocates and legal counsels associated with sexual assault, sexual abuse and domestic violence.
- Conduct cognitive/trauma informed interviews associated with trauma, alcohol facilitated, and/or false reporting concerning adult and child victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Occasional travel - Up to 25% business travel is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Planning, developing, and conducting extremely sensitive sexual assault/abuse criminal felony investigations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-12.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May manage, plan, and participate in Protective Service Missions, undercover functions such as surveillance and sting operations. Performance of these kinds of duties require: moderate, to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Incumbent must possess sufficiently good vision, with or without glasses, in each eye, in order that they may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near Vision, glasses permitted, must be acute for the reading of printed material the size of typewritten characters. The ability of incumbent to hear the conversational voice and whispered speech is required (any hearing impairment may be compensated by use of a hearing aid). Since the duties of the position are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, incumbent must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition, which would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself or to others, will disqualify himself for appointment.
