SUMMER CAMP COORDINATOR (SEASONAL/PART-TIME)

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

GIVES DIRECTION TO: SEASONAL EMPLOYEES AND VOLUNTEERS


NATURE OF WORK

This position provides support to the Program Manager for summer camps and 4th of July.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Plan, coordinate and implement all aspects of the Summer camps including Camp Chippeewee, Summer Playground Program, Lebo All Sports Program and Lil’ Sluggers.

Responsible for supervision of all Summer Camp Supervisors.

Assist with Coordination of Track and Field Program.

Assist with coordination of 4th of July Celebration.

Performs all other work assigned.

Display a knowledge of CPR and First-Aid.


EXAMPLES OF WORK

Responsible for recruiting seasonal staff, schedule and conduct interviews, hire staff, complete paperwork and assign staff to various camps. Oversee the In-Service training of staff. Assist camp directors with planning of activities. Monitor, inventory and order all supplies and equipment used for camps. Responsible for bi-weekly payroll for summer camp staff. Completes injury reports when necessary. Conducts daily monitoring of all summer camp sites and programs. Assists Program Manager with coordination of weekly field trips in Summer Playground Program.

Recruits staff for 4th of July Celebration. Orders prizes for games and assigns staff. Oversees and coordinates games day of event.

Assists Program Manager with coordination of Track and Field events.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Clear understanding of recreational departmental activities and procedures.

Interpersonal skills


REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Experience with organizing youth programs and special events is preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, bend, stoop; use hands to handle, or feel equipment and supplies. The employee will need to be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 3 hours. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing, eyesight and verbal communications to record, prepare and communicate appropriate camper activities.
