The Patient Stakeholder Value Strategy Lead is responsible for managing and driving enterprise-wide initiatives to enhance Alexion’s mission to become the #1 patient centric rare disease company. STAR is Alexion’s’ proprietary idea accelerator. It is a lean, agile platform that pulls together cross-functional groups of Alexion colleagues to identify opportunities and co-create solutions for patients. This individual will be a cross-functional partner for all Alexion business areas as we drive forward priority STAR programs, communications and implementation plans to ensure lasting impact and measurable success.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage execution of STAR Indication Workshops; specific responsibilities include:
  • Monitor Alexion drug development and BD activities to identify new indication workshops
  • Coordinate cross-functional STAR Indication Workshops in partnership with a candidate GPTL/GMTL and Project manager
  • Support candidate teams in coordinating Workshop tactics (i.e., material development, scheduling, attendees, etc.)
  • Ensure STAR Workshop program is consistent with the wholistic Patient & Stakeholder Value (PSv) process
  • Ensure STAR Workshop plan scope is aligned to key business question and context
  • Ensure STAR Workshop deliverables are consistent with PSv format and ensure dissemination of the insights and materials to broader Alexion organization once Workshop is completed
  • Support development of Disease Factbooks, in collaboration with the STAR Data & Insights Lead
  • In collaboration with the Head of STAR, seek, assess, and identify enterprise level issues that will benefit from being worked through the STAR process
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with key cross-functional ALXN colleagues who can provide input regarding market landscape, patient and caregiver preferences, and Alexion strategy and vision
  • Design proposals for enterprise-wide programs to be managed through STAR
  • Prepare internal presentations; audience will include colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Develop and distribute communications related to STAR projects to ensure broad organizational engagement, awareness, alignment of the benefit provided by the platform
  • Manage and oversee budget for STAR initiatives
  • Partner with select functions collect and coordinate strategic insight regarding Alexion’s 5 key stakeholders. Key functions include:

    • Patient Advocacy team
    • Commercial (global and country level)
    • Business Development
    • Competitive Intelligence
    • R&D

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; (advanced degree a plus (e.g. MBA, MPH)
  • 10+ years of experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical Industry or equivalent; preference for experience in Marketing, Market Research, or Strategy, Consulting
  • Experience and passion for creating innovative solutions for patients and caregivers
  • Understanding of how to leverage all types of data to drive insight generation, decision-making
  • Experienced designing business intelligence platforms to support the shift from delivering on hindsight to offering foresight; Preferred
  • Demonstrated experience operating as a change agent responsible for transforming traditional ways of utilizing data to leading edge approaches
  • Ability to operate in a complex environment and to drive transformational projects without precedent
  • Demonstrated passion for patient focused work
